Canterbury, in the south east of England, is best known for its cathedral – the oldest in England. This ancient city has also been made famous by Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales”, telling stories from the pilgrims on their way there. More recently (1944), the film, “A Canterbury Tale” starring Sheila Sim, Eric Portman and Dennis Price was set here and tells the tale of modern day pilgrims in World War Two. It was directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
